Nobel Prize Laureate Albert Schweitzer once wrote, “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” Matthew believes this quote surmises his tenure in the mortgage industry, saying, “Nothing gives me more pleasure than structuring a tough deal that improves a client’s quality of life or one that puts a family in their first home.” 

After graduating from the University of Maryland in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Matthew knew his niche would be in the financial world. 

However, after graduating amid a difficult job market and just months before 9/11, he shifted his focus from Wall St. to the mortgage industry. 

After becoming a loan officer in 2001, Matthew started his own team in 2004 and opened a branch location in 2006. He worked as a Senior Loan Officer and Manager from 2010-2025 at his previous companies before joining the Luminate team in 2025. 

“What is most rewarding is the depth and breadth of my experience as a Mortgage Banker,” Matthew says. “It’s about structuring the right loan for a customer and meeting their needs, but also striving to surpass their needs and coming up with solutions to not only close the loan but to get the lowest rate, cheapest closing costs, and the lowest monthly payment.” 

“By educating, listening, consolidating debt, removing derogatory accounts from credit reports, and satisfying judgments, I have helped families all over the country restore their creditworthiness. In doing so, I have built a substantial network of referral clientele varying from low-income families in impoverished neighborhoods all the way up to celebrities all over the country. To this day, I’m still learning every day and still come to work every day excited knowing I can be part of someone’s biggest financial transaction of their life.” 

Matthew was recognized as a Top Originator in 2021 by Scotsman Guide. To be selected for this award, a loan officer must be in the top 2.4% of originators of the more than 308,700 active loan officers in the U.S. in the 2021 calendar year. He is also a member of Real Estate & Financial Professionals of New York (REFPNY). 

Outside of work, Matthew is an avid volunteer at Operation Splash, a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life on Long 

Island’s shores through cleanups, advocacy, and education. He loves to spend time with his friends and family, play golf, and go boating.
